OSH

Occupational safety
and health

The main objective of the OSH management system is to minimise negative impacts on employees. The main thing is to identify the risks, determine which measures can reduce their impact on employees, and consistently require compliance with these measures.

OSH principles

The occupational safety and health management system is defined primarily in the OSH documentation, which includes OSH guidelines and instructions, risk assessment and work categorisation. Managers are responsible for safety in their sections and departments.

Employees are informed about the dangers and risks at their workplaces, heed this information, and have the relevant knowledge and skills enabling them to work safely. The safety manager - who has the required professional competence, knowledge and experience – works closely with employees in the OSH department.

They also prepare the relevant documentation and, at the start of every year, prepare the OSH Assessment document for the preceding year. The company’s OSH management system is certified according to the ČSN ISO 45001 standard.

OSH principles

Injury prevention

The majority of the work and activities we carry out are connected with an elevated risk of injury. We therefore perform such work and activities according to pre-approved operational documentation – technological procedures. This documentation prioritises working procedures that promote occupational safety and health, help prevent injuries, damage to health and danger to people as much as possible. Before commencing potentially hazardous work, all involved employees must demonstrably familiarise themselves with the operating documentation. If they fail to do so, they cannot commence the work. During such work, a designated worker will monitor the situation at the workplace. In the event of danger, they will stop the work and take the workers to a safe place.

Protective equipment

Our employees are equipped with quality personal protective equipment – primarily work clothing that protects them in the event of an accident at the workplace. This work clothing is tailor-made for each employee, and is fire-resistant for a specific time, and has significantly longer service life than regularly available work clothing. Employees are provided with two sets of this clothing, and it is always replaced when it loses its protective function.

Workplace inspection

To ensure that dangerous situations are immediately detected at the Uhřice underground storage facility workplace, we have developed a system of workplace inspections and checks. Daily checks are carried out by a representative of the operations department head or the facility operator. Weekly inspections are carried out at workplaces where no work is being performed. The person who carries out the check also enters it into the electronic inspection and check book. The safety manager checks the workplace once a month, and prepares a report on the check which they store in a directory on the intranet. In the event a deficiency is discovered, they then send it to the responsible manager, who will arrange rectification.
